In one of our hogans, we have a beautiful flagstone floor, built by Diane from native rock. The rock has ripples in it because it was once on the shallow bottom of an ancient lake. Our other hogan has a packed-earth floor, which our Navajo friends tell us is more traditional. It is also a natural cooler, because the Navajos taught us to keep it damp in the summer.
